MY WORK

Hi, I'm Jeannette!

I’m a marketing and communications professional, writer, and storyteller with a deep passion for advocacy and raising awareness for meaningful causes. Most recently, I’ve worked in mental health communications, helping to break stigmas, connect people to resources, and share powerful stories of resilience. My focus is on brand awareness and strengthening community connections through impactful storytelling.

As a timid child whose first language was Spanish, I found comfort in books, stories, and creativity. I grew up in a tiny one-bedroom apartment in Los Angeles, where I would sit for hours on the old stoop, flipping through my parents’ English encyclopedia collection, creating my own stories, art, and travel brochures. I knew from a young age that I had a desire to understand the world.

I began my career in journalism, reporting on business, government, education, crime, and breaking news for newspapers in Arizona. As an undergraduate, I was one of 24 young journalists in the U.S. selected for The New York Times Student Journalism Institute. Later, while earning my MBA in Marketing, I created global internal content for Johnson & Johnson. I’ve had the opportunity to work with organizations like Homeless Youth Connection, where I helped amplify the voices of youth experiencing homelessness. I’ve worked in radio, where I have supported donor communications and brand awareness for Christian stations such as KSBJ and Vida Unida. Most recently, I managed communications for Active Minds, focusing on suicide prevention in young adults, ensuring that the next generation has the resources and support they need.

Through my experiences I’ve discovered my passion: helping people feel seen, heard, and empowered through storytelling. Whether it’s through brand messaging, donor engagement, or content creation, my goal is to connect people to ideas, causes, and communities that make a difference.

ADVOCATE

Anyone who knows me understands that I am both a fighter and a change-maker. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with survivors of abuse, advocating for their voices and helping them rebuild their lives. I've spoken with Phoenix inner-city youth and families, raising awareness about trauma, abuse, and the path to healing.

As a Christian, it’s vital for me to share the message of hope and transformation through the Gospel. I’ve had the opportunity to do this in missionary work at orphanages overseas, where I saw firsthand how faith and community can empower those who need it most.

Today, I continue to own my story as a survivor. My work is driven by a desire for systemic change—to create a world where survivors are supported, safe, and able to thrive. As a children's ministry teacher at my home church in Texas, I am honored to guide and love on children, helping to lay the foundation for their future and make a lasting impact on their lives.
